Joey Reynolds of American Who http://www.americanwho.net reports that SciFi's http://www.scifi.com premiere ratings for Rose on March 17 were 1.58 million viewers at 9PM EST and .78 million viewers at 11PM EST, while The End Of The World had 1.61 million viewers at 10PM EST and .78 million viewers at Midnight EST. These numbers are lower than the firstrun ratings for traditional SciFi Friday programs Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica, but better than reruns of those shows typically receive and apparently above nearly anything else SciFi ever airs bar premieres of major miniseries. SciFi has yet to give an official press release on ratings results. No early results are available for the Sunday night or Monday morning repeats yet.
If you missed the US premiere, Rose airs one more time - Thursday night at Midnight EST. The End Of The World airs twice more - Thursday night at 1AM EST, Friday at 8PM EST. Doctor Who regularly airs at 9PM & Midnight Eastern, Sunday at 11PM Eastern (12:30AM this weekend).
YLE in Finland has a press release about their upcoming broadcast of Doctor Who. Months after the BBC announced a sale to YLE's TV2, we have a tentative premiere date of Autumn 2006 (probably September). The release (in Finnish) is at http://www.yle.fi/tv2/?p=jutut&ID=1141 . Kristoffer Lawson http://people.fishpool.fi/~setok has kindly provided us with a translation of the article.

Doctor Who arrives in Finland

The BBC's new version of the cult 1960s series Doctor Who crazed the Brits last year. What will happen to the Finns when Doctor Who and his companions arrive on our screens in autumn on Channel Two?

Doctor Who is a man who travels through time and space and who confronts numerous weird monsters and dangers on his adventures.

Doctor Who's arch enemies are the Daleks who must destroy all life in the universe in order to survive.

The original Doctor Who series was shown in Britain during the years 1963 - 1989. Its impressive 26-year journey even produced 600 episodes, 150 stories and two feature length films. During the first years of the series the main character, Doctor Who, was played by William Hartnell, but the main actor has changed several times during the years.

In addition to normal Brits, people including Rowan Atkinson, Elizabeth Hurley, Robbie Williams and Stephen Fry have publicly announced being fans of the Doctor Who series.

A new version of the series

The BBC long developed the idea for creating new episodes to this family sci-fi show. The real action started in 2003 when one of British TV's most gifted scriptwriters, Russell T Davies, was tempted into creating the new episodes.

In the new episodes Doctor Who is played by Christopher Eccleston, who is known in England for his previous serious roles. As Doctor Who Eccleston gets to play a completely new side of himself - one who is happy, ambitious and even funny. Doctor Who's attractive assistant, Rose, is played by the beautiful and energetic Billie Piper.

The series' 13 new episodes were completed last year and the new Doctor Who gained huge popularity in England. The episodes shown in the autumn on YLE TV2 begin with the first encounter of Rose Tyler and the mysterious Doctor Who, which changes Rose's secure life completely.
Russell T Davies (the man behind the Doctor Who revival and executive producer on spinoff Torchwood) has told Sci-Fi Wire http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire in an interview http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=35094 that Torchwood will begin filming in May and should premiere in the UK in October 2006. Torchwood stars John Barrowman resuming his role of Captain Jack Harkness (Doctor Who Series 1 episodes 9 through 13) and Eve Miles as Gwen.
On Tuesday 28 March the BBC will have a press conference for the Second series of Doctor Who in Cardiff. Last year they held a conference on 8 March which revealed the Series One premiere date and launched a massive amount of publicity for the show. There is every reason to believe that the 28 March 2006 press conference will go much the same way, so hopefully by the time of the next TWIDW column we will have an officially confirmed premiere date (most people believe 15 April right now - but it's not confirmed).
BBC Four http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour in the UK is having a theme
week of 1973 programming in early April to herald the start of a
repeat run of the recent hit series Life On Mars (man from 2006
wakes up in what is apparently 1973). The Jon Pertwee Doctor Who
story The Green Death will air as part of the theme week (originally
aired in May & June 1973). The current schedule:
Monday 3 April 7:10PM - The Green Death episode 1
Monday 3 April 7:35PM - The Green Death episode 2
Tuesday 4 April 7:10PM - The Green Death episode 3
Tuesday 4 April 7:35PM - The Green Death episode 4
Wednesday 5 April 7:10PM - The Green Death episode 5
Wednesday 5 April 7:35PM - The Green Death episode 6
The Green Death stars Jon Pertwee as Doctor Who (3rd incarnation),
Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Nicholas Courtney as Brigadier Lethbridge-
Stewart, John Levene as Sgt. Benton, Richard Franklin as Captain
Mike Yates, with BOSS and Bessie as themselves. It is hoped that BBC
Four will use the restored masters for these episodes done when the
story was released on DVD in 2004.
French Canadian channel Ztele http://www.ztele.com/index.jsp concludes their run through Series One (the 2005 episodes) on Tuesday March 28. Once the repeats of Á La Croisée Des Chemins conclude, Doctor Who will leave the schedule for the time being.
If anyone at Digital Plus http://www.plus.es/codigo/default.asp (satellite service in Spain & Portugal) reads the column, it appears from your schedule that Doctor Who on People + Arts is going into repeats instead of airing the last 3 episodes in Series One (Boom Town, Bad Wolf, and The Parting Of The Ways). Is this correct?
Most of Europe is switching to Daylight Savings Time this weekend (Sunday 26 March). North America stays on Standard Time until 2 April. Bear this in mind if you're trying to listen to a program live from a country that is changing time on a different date from yours (or isn't changing at all).
The BBC Press Office http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice and C21 Media http://www.c21media.net often announce when a Doctor Who international sale occurs. Worth keeping an eye on, just in case.
